描述拥有各自性格、价值观、烦恼和秘密的单身父亲和单身母亲们在同一屋檐下共同生活和育儿的故事。重冈大毅饰演的主角赤城俊平，三个月前才成为单身父亲，为抚养5岁独生子而努力中，偶然团聚的儿时朋友小山内翔介（仲野太贺）突发奇想在SNS上发出#家人募集中的贴文。苍介为了重建他工作的老什锦烧店，计划住在二楼的空置物业上，以赚取租金收入。的SNS贴文发出后，遇到了单身母亲桃田礼（木村文乃）和有孩子的创作歌手（岸井雪乃），她继续追求自己的梦想，四个成年人和三个孩子决定在同个屋檐下生活。
《设得兰谜案》第四季已获得预定，依旧由Douglas Henshall主演，预计于2018年播出。第四季由David Kane担任主要编剧，将会延续第三季的模式，用六集篇幅讲述一个完整的案件。
