改编自押见修造的同名漫画原著《恶之华》。导演是曾执导《接招吧！那边的女孩》等漫改作品的井口升，编剧则是曾编写《我们仍未知道那天所看见的花的名字》等许多人气动画剧本的冈田磨里。
