这是林权泽导演第102部作品，改编自韩国著名作家金勋的短篇小说《花葬》，刻画了一个男人和自己身患绝症的妻子和年轻貌美的女职员之间的情感纠葛，以此剖析生命和死亡的真谛。韩文片名同时有“化妆”和“火葬”之意，分别指代“生命”和“死亡”。
