大唐宪宗，永贞元年。朝中阉宦俱公公权倾朝野，无恶不作。前朝木相国手里的一封奏折，是指证他作奸犯科的铁证。为了拿到这份“铁证” ，当年朝中五位侍郎被俱公公一一陷害惨死。木相国的女儿木芙蓉，为了反抗继母秦氏的逼婚和压迫，不惜跳下绣楼，千钧一发之际她被夜行侠所救。夜行侠专门惩治贪官污吏，他的目的似乎是冲着当年五位侍郎惨案而来，他早已成为俱公公通缉的对象。俱公公发现木芙蓉和夜行侠有所关联，便把矛头指向了木芙蓉。木芙蓉身处险境，夜行侠对她出手相救却身受重伤，两人因共患难产生了爱情。俱公公看出两人之间的感情，他为了抓住夜行侠，逼迫木芙蓉和秦阙大婚。夜行侠不惧危险及时赶到，他和俱公公展开了生死对决。最终俱公公伏诛，夜行侠和木芙蓉幸福牵手，互定终生。
