Joseph Fiennes饰演具权力的高级别领导者Fred Waterford，是新政权Gilead的开国元勋，Offred就是他的使女；Yvonne Strahovski饰演Serena Joy，是Fred Waterford的妻子，是家中员工的领导。作为一个有影响力的公众人物，她会同时争取传统价值观，也支持Gilead的建立。
