作为“江山四部曲”的收尾之作《还看今朝》。《还看今朝》将继续延续和发展《江山》中的故事情节和精神。以1981年的中国为故事背景。剧中将采用颜丹晨饰演的卖鱼女“陶叶”为故事的主线，在“片警”文伟的协助下将行的一场反特斗争。
据开拍之前导演介绍这故事是历史＋虚构＋转世，描写大城王朝的衰败及吞武里王朝和拉玛王朝的建立。
本剧讲述了以刘能、广坤、赵四为首的象牙山村民在新时代背景下，就“精准扶贫”“招商引资”等国家惠农政策的误解，与新到任大学生村官杜小双以及到象牙山投资的神秘富豪，发生的一系列依旧搞笑无解的故事。
