《情牵南洋》是一部充满30至70年代怀旧色彩的长篇电视剧。全剧长40集，剧情落在1938年至1968年之间，叙述30年代的马来亚，在二战局势动荡的年代中，我们的祖先从中国南来打拼，在这里落地生根的艰辛故事。《情牵南洋》剧情讲述在中国正处在动荡不安的时候，陆续出现了三波的移民潮。日军侵华，国共内乱，物价澎涨，民不聊生。促使中国发生了这三次的移民潮，而这第三波的移民潮正是南洋华人的起点。当年，马来亚虽尚在英军的统治，丰富的自然资源，吸引了很多的外来投资者。于是有了英军委任的华人领袖——甲必丹。正因有了华裔官位，也就因此吸引了由中国引进了大批的“猪仔”来到从事劳力工作，范围涵盖采锡、割胶、海港苦力等等……而随着潮飘洋过海来的华人几乎都抱着“淘金梦”的心态，梦想着最先装满一桶金，然后衣锦还乡《情牵南洋》以3位男人为故事主人翁，讲述他们如何从中国南下，在大马讨生活和扎根的故事。当中经历了英军，日军的统治年代，华人如何致死地而后生。总长40集的大制作，剧情紧张，朴素写实，有血有泪，扣人心弦，情义非凡
