本剧是NHK BS播放的时代剧，由沟端淳平主演.讲述了年轻医生 立花登（沟端淳平）在担任江户的狱医时的所见所闻和独特经历。剧情和配乐以及沟端淳平对角色地演绎都是十分优秀的，有时代剧独有的风味。另外武功高强的狱医这种设定，让人一下子想起了10年mayu曾经参演的《桂千鹤诊察日记》。只不过设定里由于沟端淳平的角色太过年轻，所以并没有像当年的主演市川由衣一样收一个小松糕做学徒（兼任护士），要不然参演本剧的平佑奈可能会变成这样的角色。说了这么多归根结底的是，不知不觉又挖了一个坑。
