《刑警队长》筹备历时3年，是一部经精心雕琢和细致打磨而成的高质感大剧。顾瑛亲手破获的大量现实案件在剧中被真实还原。值得一提的是，在案件的选择上，制作团队同样煞费苦心，力求在折射出人性复杂和黑暗的同时展现刑警丰富多彩因地制宜的破案手段，或布局引蛇出洞，或锲而不舍通过笔迹和画像追凶，甚至案中有案，抽丝剥茧下真凶依旧扑朔迷离。
