二十世纪七十年代的香港,娱乐业蓬勃发展,歌舞升平之地颇多,而丽花皇宫夜总会就是其中的代表之一。迫于生计,爱好唱歌的姚小蝶来到了丽花皇宫。在这里,小蝶结识了性格各异的众人,有令人怜爱的蓝凤萍、性格傲慢的洪莲茜、有热情的金露露。小蝶在这里因机遇得到赏识,成为了丽花的当家花旦;而在感情生活上,她遇到了让她一生难忘的沈家豪。而二人也因误会相识,又因彼此吸引而相恋。凤萍、露露和莲茜也各自经历着悲欢离合的人生。越战爆发,家豪前去寻找凤萍,一去未返,就这样让小蝶等了二十年。二十年后,丽花皇宫昔日的辉煌不再即将被拆除,再次登台的小蝶为其做最后的慈善演出,一切布置如同往昔,而早已物是人非。这时,家豪却回来了。阔别二十年之久,已到中年的二人能否破镜重圆?
